The Call: LF St. Louis

Eleven years ago, we all stood beneath the Saint Louis Arch, unaware of how God would change our lives in the years to come. At the time, we were all members of Midtown Baptist Temple, but today, from that small line of fifteen men, eight church plants have emerged. I was personally trusting the Lord to be a missionary internationally and never thought that I would return to that city to establish a work. However, the Lord was faithful and merciful to light my path and direct my steps as I devised a way.

Friends of Internationals trip to St. Louis, 2014

As I continued ministering at Midtown Baptist Temple, I would often hear the exhortation to take the gospel from Jerusalem to the uttermost, and I would increasingly become curious about what God was doing and who we were like-minded with in Saint Louis, our Samaria. Surely, of all our churches in Kansas City, we are connected with someone in Saint Louis, right? The silence was always louder than I expected. So, I simply began to pray about the city and the many souls that dwell there; I had no interest in being sent.

In the meantime, I was growing, doing ministry, and getting equipped. I served on our praise team, in Friends of Internationals (FOI), and went on mission trips. I worked on digital marketing assets, helped with church construction projects, discipled men, and led Bible studies. In 2015, I was ordained to the office of deacon. In 2017, I was sent out to help plant Living Faith in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Soon after, I was ordained as a deacon again, graduated college with a Bachelor of Business Administration, got married, built a house, graduated from Living Faith Bible Institute, was ordained a pastor, and my wife had our first son. The last eight years have been very full—difficult, yet enjoyable and extremely fulfilling. I have seen church planting firsthand, from a living room to a sanctuary, and from a small team of believers to hundreds of new disciples. I am so grateful to know that God has answered our prayers to establish that new work, and I can’t find a reason to think that he doesn’t desire to do it again.

Living Faith Lee Summit Commission (2017)

LF Lee Summit’s Commission, 2017

When Living Faith in Lee’s Summit began, I stopped actively considering Saint Louis because it was a distraction from the field I was standing in, but over the years, the burden for the city never left my heart. In the summer of 2022, I started actively praying for Saint Louis again. Then, that fall, my wife Gabrielle and I both felt the weight of that burden more than ever—we knew we needed to visit the city. We needed to walk the streets, see the people, and pray. Conveniently, her family lives just outside the city in Arnold, so we planned a trip and began to spy out the land. Over the last three years, the Lord has slowly confirmed that call through his word, his body, and many opportunities to preach the gospel.

Today, we are connected with about ten people in the city, and some of those individuals are actively studying the Bible with us. We are currently living in Lee’s Summit, but I am traveling back-and-forth to Saint Louis to lead Bible studies in-person as much as possible. Our plan is to move in August or September and immediately transition the Bible study into our home. Initially, we want to plant in a central location, renting and remaining flexible as the Lord leads. Currently, we are considering the areas from Chesterfield to Maryland Heights. If you would, please pray that the Lord would be preparing hearts and giving us divine appointments as we engage the lost. We know that unless the Lord builds the house, all of our labor is vain.

I also want to ask for your help and invite you to personally partner with us. One way you could be used of the Lord is by making a trip to see the city and help us evangelize the lost. We are not ready to host teams yet, but if you are interested in planning a future trip, please reach out. If you're a pastor or leader at your church, I’d love to connect and discuss what makes the most sense for our work and your people. Another practical way you can help us is partnering financially. I trust that God will take care of our every need, but I know that gets accomplished through his body: the church. Whether it is a one-time donation or a recurring gift, your support would greatly help us in the beginning. My prayer is that we will be fully supported, so we can see a self-sustaining church established quickly. If you or your church feel led to give to the work, we would be eternally grateful.

Philippians 4:17
Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account.

Bethany Baptist Church

Bethany Baptist Church, 2025

Lastly, please pray for a church named Bethany Baptist in the Maryland Heights. Recently, their pastor went to be with the Lord, and they had to put their building/house up for sale. The Baptist Missionary Association of America (BMAA) now owns it. Through a long series of events, I have been invited into their small congregation of 5-8 people to share what God is doing in my life and to possibly care for them pastorally. If you would, please pray for wisdom and discernment in this situation and for the Lord to give me favor with the BMAA or anyone willing to purchase the building and lease it back to us.

Proverbs 21:1
The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.

A Right Identity: Family or Jesus?

A Right Identity: Family or Jesus?

Putting on Christ, however, is more than just making sure you proudly display an LFBI or Postscript logo on your clothing. Putting on Christ goes deeper; it is manifest in the sum total of our actions and overall countenance. Paul, in the book of Romans 13, clearly associates putting on Christ with the actions of the flesh. (Rom 13:14 - “But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.”) In this way, our “identity” in Christ is evidenced through outward manifestations.

Cheney Perkins: The Call to Missions in Kenya

I just graduated from the University of Missouri Kansas City with a bachelor's degree in finance. Like most 23-year-olds, my plan was to begin a career, find a wife, and start a family. I had plans for my future and I was content with how everything was playing out. But then God opened up the opportunity to go to Kenya for a year.

Ministering to Arabic Speakers and the Middle Easterners Around Us

Ministering to Arabic Speakers and the Middle Easterners Around Us

Some churches could be strictly adhering to the traditional, costly model of training and sending missionaries overseas, while overlooking the Middle Eastern community in their own backyard. There is no contradiction in doing both, but unfortunately many churches are likely to be neglecting the Arabs and other Middle Easterners right around the corner. It looks like God has brought the mission field to us! The question is, “How do we reach the Middle Easterners here in the US with the gospel?”

Technology & Teens: Principles for Guarding Kids from the Dangers of the Internet and Social Media

…if we allow ourselves to be consumed by our devices, then we will undoubtedly be ineffective in the mission we have been given. If we are to make disciples of all nations, then we cannot be obsessed with ourselves. If we are to reach the nations, then we must live in victory over stress and anxiety. How are we to be workmen in the word, how are we to delight in and meditate on the book if we cannot give attention to it? We are barely scratching the surface on the effects of the internet on our hearts and minds.

“Literally, that’s what he said.”

“Literally, that’s what he said.”

Unfortunately, there are many believers who are caught up in a similar cycle. Instead of focusing on what God has literally said through his word, they choose to focus on what they assume God really meant. And their lives reflect their private interpretation through the immaturity of their relationships and the drama that seems to follow them wherever they go in life.

The Value of Marriage Retreat

The Value of Marriage Retreat

And that’s the beauty of pursuing righteousness—because preventative measures were taken, you never have to find out the consequences of a passive, wicked decision. Diligently and intentionally pursuing righteousness in our marriages is essential to fulfill our responsibilities to one another as husband and wife, and it will keep us from having to dig ourselves out of a hole that could have been avoided altogether.

Give Me Liberty!

Give Me Liberty!

My liberty is not a liberty that says I can make a life for myself, make a name for myself, be whatever I want to be, have whatever I want to have, or change whatever I want to change. My freedom is meant for one thing and one thing only: to let Christ live through me, and that means I am to extend the love of Jesus Christ to a lost and dying world, to selflessly lay down my flesh, my desires, and my hopes and dreams to love others, to fulfill the law of Christ!

How to Make Biblical Higher-Education Work: Principles for the Local Independent Baptist Church to Consider

What I can say is that it is of the utmost importance for every church to have a plan for training godly men and women to take the gospel to the world. This isn't a tertiary or passive endeavor, it’s a central and urgent endeavor.

The Plagues of Egypt

The Plagues of Egypt

While there are certainly nuances to which pagan deity or deities God was attacking with each plague, it is clear from the context of scripture that God was indeed taking aim at the pagan deities of Egypt with each successive plague. However, it is important to keep in mind that these plagues were not only a judgment on Egypt, but a sign to God’s chosen people Israel that proved the veracity of Moses’ ministry and their call to leave Egypt.

Why study English grammar as a Bible student?

The more that you understand the ins and outs of English grammar, the more you’re going to be able to understand the ins and outs of the preserved word of God in English. Yes, you can understand great doctrines without being able to identify a prepositional phrase. But you can also get yourself into doctrinal trouble by misunderstanding how words in a sentence fit together.

Are the Lost Truly Lost?

Are the Lost Truly Lost?

Inclusivism suggests that since Christ is the solution it would not be fair for God to condemn those who never knew they had a problem, and, since we know he is good and fair, surely God would never condemn those who never had a chance to receive Christ.  It would feel nice if this were the case, and we could assume most people are heaven-bound with a right relationship with God through their best efforts; however, those who preach the gospel would be pretty deplorable, the worst enemies of mankind—spreading the “good news” would be sending people to hell!  But what does the Bible say about this inclusive logic?

The Ministry of the Military Chaplain

The Ministry of the Military Chaplain

The military will get chaplains but how many that enter will serve God and allow for the Bible to be their ultimate authority? The military is in need of godly men prepared, ready, and willing to share the gospel. Ezekiel issued a challenge to the men of Israel to stand in the gap in Ezekiel 22:30 saying, “And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.” I hope and pray that other men will join me to stand in the gap while Jesus delays his return.
